Houston Historic Neighborhood Ordinance is a heated subject...are you aware of what's going on?

The Houston City Counsel has been revising the Historic Preservation Ordinance for several months. The first draft caused a great deal of opposition for many property rights activists, including the Houston Association of Realtors. After much discussion, a final draft has been proposed and it will soon be voted on at City Counsel. Did you know that to be an "historic" neighborhood, the homes only have to be 50 years old? That's almost everything inside the loop. Don't think it can affect you? Not until one of your neighbors wants to have your neighborhood declared "Historic."
